DSCN0652Murchison Gap is named for John Murchison the original squatter of Kerrisdale Station, one of the three original squatting runs in the district. Kerrisdale Station along with Flowerdale and Reedy Creek Stations all met at this site.

The lookout at Murchison Gap commands breath-taking view of the Valley of a Thousand Hills and the King Parrot Creek catchment. Development of the facility had been a project of the Strath Creek Landcare Group, who continues to maintain the native vegetation garden around the Lookout.
