Planting trees, shrubs and ground-covers is one of the major activities undertaken by the Strath Creek Landcare Group. Every year the group undertakes up to half a dozen plantings both on public land and the private land of members.
The main focus of the group for many years has been revegetating the Strath Creek and King Parrot Creek riparian zones and creating wildlife corridors within the valleys. Although not complete, excellent viewing points of the results of these efforts can be seen along Falls Road, Upper King Parrot Creek Road and the Broadford-Flowerdale Road.
As always, a planting is followed by shared lunch. If you want a day out in the fresh air with social company, and you don’t mind getting your hands dirty, check out our calendar and come along to the next planting.
